McMurry University has formed an association with the Energy Institute at Texas Christian University (TCU) to offer a training program for mineral and royalty owners in Abilene and West Central Texas. The program will be offered on the McMurry campus beginning in September.
The non-degreed, adult education program is aimed at mineral and royalty owners who want to understand all their options and to ensure they receive the best compensation when they interact with oil and gas companies. The Royalty Owner Program is open to new or prospective royalty owners, who want to master the basics of mineral ownership.
“McMurry is committed to providing educational opportunities pertaining to the oil and gas industry, and our association with the TCU Energy Institute enables us to fulfill a portion of that commitment with programming specifically directed toward mineral owners,” said K.O. Long, Dean of the School of Business at McMurry.
“We have been offering the Royalty Owner Program for more than a year, and it has been a huge success in Texas and around the country,” said Dr. Ken Morgan, Director of the TCU Energy Institute. “TCU is delighted to partner with McMurry to provide the program to the mineral owners in West Central Texas”.
The ROP instructor will be Glen Webb, an experienced attorney and mineral owner who lives in the Abilene area. “I have a deep desire to help land owners and mineral owners in West Texas,” said Webb, who is an adjunct instructor at McMurry teaching a business course related to oil and gas exploration and production.
“One of McMurry’s major emphases as we move toward our 100th anniversary is to enhance our connections with Abilene and the area and find new partnerships that benefit all of us,” said McMurry President Dr. Sandra Harper. “This program provides a strong beginning on achieving that goal.”
