Abilene, TX

McMurry University has formed an alliance with the Energy Institute at Texas Christian University (TCU) to offer training programs for mineral and royalty owners in Abilene and West Central Texas. The programs will be offered on the McMurry campus in February, March, and September of 2015.

The Royalty Owners Program (ROP) will be held from Feb. 17-19. An advanced Royalty Owners Program for those who have taken the basic class will be offered from March 24-26. A special program, Wealth Management and Estate Planning, will be held on March 27. All programs are held in the Furr Welcome Center.

The non-degreed, adult education programs are aimed at mineral owners who want to manage their mineral assets like a business enterprise and get everything that they are entitled to. They want to level the playing field when they interact with oil and gas companies. The Royalty Owner Programs are open to new or prospective royalty owners, who want to master the fundamentals of minerals management.

The ROP instructor is Glen Webb, an experienced attorney and mineral owner who lives in the Abilene area.  "I have been representing mineral owners in West Texas for many years and I have a deep desire to help them get the knowledge that they need to manage their mineral assets," said Webb.  He is an adjunct professor at McMurry teaching a business course on oil and gas exploration and production.

The advanced ROP instructor is David Wallace. Wallace received a B.B.A. in Petroleum Land Management in 1978 from the University of Texas at Austin, studied law at Cambridge University (Emmanuel College), the University of Richmond, and graduated from South Texas College of Law.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1982 and Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Energy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1989. He has also served as Sutton County Attorney since 1985.

His practice is weighted heavily to representation of landowners, especially royalty and mineral owners, in oil, gas and mineral transactions and litigation. He is a former council member for the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section for the State Bar of Texas and a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.  He was also an executive director on the Mohair Council of America and he is presently a director of the National Association of Royalty Owners Texas.

"McMurry is committed to providing educational opportunities pertaining to the oil and gas industry, and our alliance with the TCU Energy Institute enables us to fulfill a portion of that commitment with programming specifically directed toward mineral owners," said K.O. Long, Dean of the School of Business at McMurry.

"We have been offering the Royalty Owner Programs for more than two years, and they have been a huge success in Texas and around the country," said Dr. Ken Morgan, Director of the TCU Energy Institute. "TCU is delighted to partner with McMurry to provide the programs to the mineral owners in West Central Texas and around the state."

The programs have been filling up well in advance so early registration is strongly encouraged.  For more information about the Royalty Owner Programs in Abilene, visit https://www.cerenergyinstitute.com.  To speak to a representative or to register, please call the help desk number at (800) 255-1261.  Questions may be directed to info@cerenergyinstitute.com.
