On Feb. 26, McMurry University will join nearly 100 educational institutions worldwide to participate in the National Student Engagement and Philanthropy Month. The initiative, organized by CASE Affiliated Student Advancement Programs, is designed to increase student understanding of philanthropy and grow engagement on campuses.

The McMurry Student Foundation (MSF) has participated in the National Student Engagement and Philanthropy Month for three years and hopes to make this the best year yet. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the McMurry Student Foundation members will gather in the Garrison Campus Center to encourage students to recognize McMurry alumni and friends who support the institution. The theme for the event is Defining Philanthropy. MSF will be asking students to write thank you notes to donors, sign our "Donors help students define their futures" banner, and say a few words in our stewardship video. Students who write two thank you notes will receive a t-shirt that has the syllable breakdown of the word philanthropy followed by a University specific definition..

Furthermore, to embrace the spirit of philanthropy, the McMurry Student Foundation will be donating $2,200.00 to McMurry University from their fundraising efforts. The organization has proposed five options for how the funds will be utilized and the student body will have the opportunity to voice where they think funding would be most effeConctive by a vote that will be available at the campus center as well as online through McMurry’s learning systems.

“This is definitely going to be the best Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day we have done at McMurry. We are giving back more than we ever have and we had two years of experience to look back on when planning. This will be a can’t miss event for our students. ” says Sara Wickenheiser, Vice President of the McMurry Student Foundation.
