A selection of oil and acrylic portraits by McMurry senior honors student Rebecca Schneller, entitled Lasting Impressions, will be on display April 27 through May 1 at the Amy Graves Ryan Fine Arts Gallery.  An artist reception is scheduled for Friday May 1 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This show features oil and acrylic portraits of twelve Christian men and women painted in the style of Byzantine iconography.

Schneller paints both portraits and still life. She is inspired by her faith, the beauty of both nature and objects, and literature.

Accompanying her senior show, Schneller also is presenting her honor’s thesis “Lasting Impressions” at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30. The honors presentation features short biographies of the twelve Christian men and women in her portraits, research over some of the techniques of Byzantine iconography, tests with different materials, and interviews with local artists.

The Ryan Art Gallery is located at 1642 Sayles Ave (corner of Sayles and Hunt) and is open Monday through Friday from 8 to 5 p.m.
