This summer, McMurry University was selected to host a group of 20 rising junior and senior students along with two faculty members from Shanghai University of Electric Power in Shanghai, China. The group, most never having visited the United States previously, paid for the opportunity to experience university living in the U.S.

Staying in Hunt residence hall on campus, eating in our cafeteria, learning about American and Texas history and culture, and taking three week-long college courses, their stay has been a great experience with a quality education component. Each Chinese student is paired with a McMurry student “conversation partner” to hang out with in the evenings and ask questions of, when curious.

This program, created by VP for Enrollment Management David Heringer, is intended to grow opportunities for similar summer camp sessions, along with a study abroad partnership and potential international internship experience with Shanghai University of Electric Power.
