Tickets are now on sale for McMurry Theatre Department’s first production of the season, Bus Stop, directed by David Ainsworth.

In the middle of a howling snowstorm, circa 1955, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a remote roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and four or five weary travelers are going to have to hole up until morning. Although this might not sound like an auspicious beginning for a romantic comedy, in the hands of playwright William Inge the situation evolves into an American classic which depicts unerringly a composite picture of varying kinds of love, ranging from the brashly innocent to the cynically world-weary. To quote the New York Times, “Mr. Inge has put together an uproarious comedy that never strays from the truth.”

The play runs October 1-3 and October 8-10, with a curtain time of 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the general public on Friday and Saturday, with all tickets $7 on Thursday nights. Tickets can be purchased at mcm.edu/theatre or at the box office in the Ryan Fine Arts Building lobby from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information please call the box office at 325-793-3889.
