Dr. Robert Wallace and Carolyn Calvert have been honored with the 2015 Heartbeat of Campus Award at McMurry University. Established in 2013 by the McMurry University Alumni Board, the Heartbeat of Campus is awarded to both a member of the faculty and the staff annually at McMurry Honors and Coronation during Homecoming weekend.

In 1990, after receiving his PhD degree from Columbia University, Dr. Wallace began teaching sociology at McMurry. He has worked with various academic committees and student organizations. Most recently he has taken on the role of Faculty Athletics Representative. He has been actively involved with the Southwestern Sociological Association, currently serving on its executive committee and overseeing an undergraduate student paper competition.

Calvert is a 1997 graduate of McMurry University where she was a member of the band and Theta Chi Lambda. She has served McMurry in various capacities over the years, beginning with the pilot phase of the now well-known Servant Leadership program. She then spent several years as director of Academic Advising before accepting the role of Registrar in 2003. She is an active member of First United Methodist Church where she chairs the prayer team ministries.
