McMurry University hosts Christian author and theologian Dr. Ralph C. Wood at Willson-Bennett Lecture Series

Dr. Ralph C. Wood, a noted Christian theologian and authority on American and British literature from Baylor University, will be the guest speaker at McMurry University’s Willson-Bennett Lecture Series on Monday, and Tuesday, October 26-27. The lectures are open to the public free of charge.

Dr. Wood, author of The Gospel According to Tolkein, is University Professor of Theology and Literature at Baylor University. The native Texan received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

He will speak about “Flannery O’Connor, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Christ Pantocrator” at 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 26, and about “C. S. Lewis and the Doctrine of Deification in the The Great Divorce” at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 27. Both lectures will be held in the Old Main Matthews Auditorium.

Dr. Wood is the author of numerous articles, reviews and books. Among his books are  The Comedy of Redemption: Christian Faith and Comic Vision in Four American Novelists,  Flannery O’Connor and the Christ-Haunted South, The Gospel According to Tolkein, and Chesterton: The Nightmare Goodness of God.

Dr. Wood is also editor at large for The Christian Century and on the editorial board for The Flannery O’Connor Review and Seven: An Anglo-American Literary Review.
