McMurry Art Students Win Awards

Several McMurry University student artists received awards at the seventh annual Intercollegiate Art Competition, a juried exhibit of artwork by students from Abilene colleges and universities, at the Center for Contemporary Art in downtown Abilene.

Entries were juried by professional, contemporary artists. Work accepted by the jury for exhibition will remain on display in Gallery 3 at The Center for Contemporary Arts through March 12, 2016.

Yoleny Palacios, a junior from Abilene, won first place in 2-D non digital category with her work "Una Noche en Madrid," and honorable mention in 2-D non digital category for her work "Socializing."

Jeremiah Flynn placed third in the photography category and Christian Palmer earned third place in the 3-D category.

Other McMurry Art students in the exhibition were Hailee Reeder, Kelly McNamee, Kim Fritz and Spencer Collins

The competition was open to students of Abilene Christian University, Cisco College, Hardin-Simmons University, McMurry University, and Texas State Technical College who are currently enrolled or who were enrolled during any semester during 2015.
