The McMurry University Chanters will give a free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls while on a Texas Hill Country tour.

The Chanters has history all the way back to the founding of McMurry in 1923, when Gypsy Ted Sullivan Wylie started the vocal program.  It has flourished through the 20th Century to today with several directors, and boasts a long list of tours, collaborations and premieres.

Chanters is conducted by Dr. David Wallis and accompanied by Kristy Hayes.  They will sing from works which include Stroope, Berger, Palestrina, Mozart, Childs and Rutter. In April the Chanters will host a festival chorus of singers from Methodist churches around the Big Country, and present the Mozart Requiem with soloists and orchestra.

For more information, contact Dr. David Wallis, Director of Choral Activities at McMurry, at 325-793-4947.
