McMurry Students, Alumna Present Papers at Social Science Meeting

Two current McMurry students and one recent graduate are presenting papers at the upcoming Southwestern Social Science Association meetings in Las Vegas.

Brianna Brown will speak on "Out-Group Colorism: Does Skin Tone Matter for Different Races?"

Candace Evans will present "Beyond the Scale: The Importance of Considering Race and Ethnicity in Examining the Relationship between Body Image and Self-Esteem."

Samantha Derden '15 will speak about "Falsely Accused: Gender and Effects."

The international honor society for sociologists, Alpha Kappa Delta, has awarded each of these individuals $400 travel grants to present their papers.
