Abilene, TX

More than 175 McMurry University alumni, students and friends are gathering together in groups from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23, for the second McMurry Serves event. McMurry Serves is a community service initiative which embodies the Servant Leadership spirit at McMurry.

“In Abilene we have over 60 participants in two groups doing a trash cleanup with Keep Abilene Beautiful at Nelson Park and a campus beautification project,” said Suzann Couts, Director for Alumni Relations. “There are 14 other projects in cities throughout Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico – this year we’ve added a site in Washington, D.C.!”

“The support from alumni, students and the rest of our campus community for our first event last year was incredible. Feedback was positives and volunteer leaders and participants couldn’t wait to do this year’s event,” Couts said. “We are very excited to have grown both the number of projects and participants and look forward to continuing that growth into the future. Alumni and students who have come through McMurry have a passion for service and commitment to making a difference that is deeply moving. I am blessed to be in a position to help harness that passion and commitment, and gather the McMurry community together to make a difference wherever they are.”
