McMurry Women’s Club Awards Scholarships

The McMurry Women’s Club awarded two $500 scholarships to McMurry students Elizabeth McWhirter and Evelyn Gonzalez at their annual scholarship luncheon on April 19, 2016.

McWhirter is a junior from Brownwood, Texas, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Christian Ministry. She is active in Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology, Gamma Sigma women’s social club, Religious Life, Color Guard, Women’s Interclub and and Film Club. Her community activities include in helping with children and in the college ministry program at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Gonzalez, an honors program student, is a junior from Frisco, Texas, with a double major in English and writing and a minor in history. She is active in Sigma Tau Delta, Pi Delta Phi women’s social club, women’s interclub and is the editor of the campus newspaper. She is a member of the McMurry Honors program, Alpha Lambda Delta, joining Alpha Chi, and volunteers yearly for “Keep Abilene Beautiful.” She is planning for graduate school and a career in technical writing.
