McMurry University will offer an online bachelor’s degree in business beginning mid-October, University officials announced today.

“An online degree in business from the McMurry Online Degrees program will prepare graduates with the values, knowledge and skills to apply business principles in a wide array of settings, from small business to a large employer,” said Dr. Paul Mason, the new Dean of the School of Business. “The program will provide our students with a quality education and the real-world skills employers are demanding and help them thrive in today's complex business world.”

Admission to the program requires students to be at least 24 years old, not enrolled at McMurry for the last two full semesters and have a GPA of at least 2.0.

Online courses are offered every eight weeks, and most students take two courses each term. The 120 hour degree can be completed in four years or less, depending on the amount of transfer work accepted and the course load taken each term. Tuition for the program is very affordable and financial aid is available for degree-seeking students who qualify.

The degree provides a foundation from accounting and statistics to management, marketing and finance. Courses offered in ethics, organizational behavior, management of information systems, and business and professional communication round out the program.

General education coursework and elective options are available and selected to support the Business degree plan. Graduating students complete their studies with a capstone class focusing on integrating the core requirements and fundamental topics of marketing, finance, accounting, management, and economics. Students work in teams, as senior level management would, in roles like CEO and president, to manage and make decisions for their simulated company.

This is the first offering in the University’s new McMurry Online Degrees program.
