McMurry University to celebrate Family Weekend Sept. 16-18

McMurry University will celebrate Family Weekend Sept. 16-18 with a number of special activities for students and their families.

Friday’s events include a students and parents versus faculty and staff softball game at 5 p.m. at the intramural field by Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a musical showcase featuring McMurry faculty and student at 7:30 p.m. at Ryan Recital Hall.

An Art Student Studio open house will be open from 3-5 p.m. in the Amy Graves Ryan Fine Arts Building. Also women’s and men’s soccer play the University of the Ozarks at 2 and 4 p.m. at Wilford Moore Stadium.

Saturday will begin with a meet and greet for parents with faculty and staff in the Garrison Campus Center at 8:30 a.m. A March of the War Hawks will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Quad followed by a pregame tailgate party beginning at 10:30 a.m. behind the Jay-Rollins Library. McMurry’s football game against Texas College will begin at noon in Wilford Moore Stadium.

Following the football game, McMurry History Professor Dr. Don Frazier will give a talk titled “McMurry University - Handcrafting Graduates Since 1923.”  The day’s activities will close with the McMurry women’s and men’s soccer teams taking on UT Tyler at 5 and 7 p.m.

On Sunday, families may join their student for worship at Aldersgate United Methodist Church across from McMurry or at their local congregation.
