Dian Stai will be the featured speaker at the fifth annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon at McMurry University. The luncheon will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Garrison Campus Center Mabee Room.

Proceeds from the luncheon support the Dr. Sandra S. Harper Women’s Leadership Scholarship program, and the 2018 recipients of the Dr. Sandra S. Harper Women’s Leadership Scholarship will be announced during the luncheon.

Following the luncheon, Stai will attend a discussion with McMurry students at 1:30 p.m.

A native of West Texas, Dian Graves Stai grew up in Midland. In 1969, Dian and her late husband, Jean, co-founded Owen Healthcare, a pharmacy management company. After Jean’s tragic death in an airplane crash, Dian, a single mother of two children, took the helm of the company. Under her leadership, Owen Healthcare became a leader in the industry with over 3,500 employees and operations in 45 states. In 1997 the company merged with Cardinal Healthcare and Dian re-focused her energies, creating Mansefeldt Investment Corporation and the Dian Graves Owen Foundation, both headquartered in Abilene.

Mrs. Stai, a former McMurry student, has served as a University Trustee and co-chaired McMurry’s “Shaping the Future” campaign which raised over $39 Million to fund endowed scholarships and the renovation of Old Main. The Dian Graves Owen Foundation also provided a leadership gift to establish the Walter F. and Virginia Johnson School of Business. She received an Honorary Doctorate from McMurry University in 1988.

Dian, along with legendary businessman Warren Buffett, were recently inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame. Also a member of the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame, Dian has served on the boards of First Financial Bankshares and Zale Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas and has served as Commissioner of the Texas Department of Commerce.

Dian and her husband, Harlan Stai, reside in Fredericksburg where they enjoy entertaining their four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
