McMurry University Theatre to Present Student One-Act Plays

The McMurry University Department of Theatre will be presenting a bill of five student-directed one act plays beginning at 7:30 p.m. May 4-5 in the Amy Graves Ryan Little Theatre located in the Ryan Fine Arts Center. All performances are free to the public.

“The Tale That Wagged The Dog”

Written by Tim Kelly

Directed by junior Lauren Bridwell

Synopsis: "Johann Strauss’ valet has an intriguing side job as a hairstylist that is met by disapproval from his wife.”  

“A Blooming of Ivy”

Written by Gary Williams

Directed by junior Kylie Fonville

Synopsis: "Two widowed farm neighbors, have an intriguing conversation about their past…and their future.”   

“Case of the Crushed Petunias”

Written by Tennessee Williams

Directed by junior Ashleigh Moss

Synopsis: "A woman trapped in her job and complacent existence meets a man that helps her break free.”

“Libretto”

Written by Robin Rothstein

Directed by junior Ray Newton

Synopsis: “A romantic comedy that shows how love can happen anywhere…and in the strangest places.”

“Dance Before Dark”

Written by Karen Ankers

Directed by sophomore Kevin Roberts

Synopsis: "A conversation between a prisoner and a guard, concerning the environment as it collapses.”
