Diversity Affairs Council Celebrates Black History Month at McMurry

The Diversity Affairs Council (DAC) at McMurry University is sponsoring several campus events in February to celebrate Black History Month.

The Council will sponsor a Black History Month Trivia contest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Garrison Campus Center.

On February 19, DAC will sponsor a Black History Month Lunch from 11:30 a.m-2 p.m. catered by Aramark in Mabee Dining Hall.  A speech will be read and music performed.

On February 20, DAC will feature a panel discussion Color Commentary in Ryan Little Theater from 11 a.m. to noon. A panel of speakers from McMurry faculty, staff and administrators and others from the Abilene community will talk about their experiences as African/African-American professionals and take questions from the audience.

On February 25, DAC will feature Slam Poetry Night in Amy Graves Ryan Room 106 from 7 to 9 p.m. Spoken word/composed lyrics will be performed by McMurry, ACU and Hardin Simmons students about experiences being black or with black culture
