A free teacher’s workshop titled “Heads Up! Making Citizenship, History and Government Come Alive In Your Classroom” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, in McMurry University Iris Graham Education Building room E-108.

Come join us for a packed day designed to help get your students’ heads off their desks and engaged in meaningful, thought provoking lessons correlated to the social studies TEKS. During the course of the day, university students, alternative certification, and first year teachers wanting to teach elementary, middle, and high school students will work with teacher consultants to demonstrate how to implement these lessons into the curriculum.

Additionally, the lead LRE Constitutional scholar, Jerry Perry will provide content support on selected topics.

The workshop is free by registering at and is sponsored by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation and the State Bar of Texas. Registration is limited so early registration is encouraged.

For more information, contact Jan Miller at 512-427-1821.
