ABILENE, Texas – World Water Day is a nationally recognized day devoted to raising awareness for important issues related to water. This year World Water Day is on Thursday, March 22. On March 23-24, the Omicron Delta chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-ed service fraternity at McMurry University, is doing their part to raise awareness for the very important topic of water in the Big Country and around the world.

For this two-day event, Omicron Delta is inviting members from nearby chapters at Texas Tech, University of Texas at El Paso, Angelo State and Hardin-Simmons to attend a weekend conference that is water-themed and devoted to educating participants about issues related to water.

At this event, Omicron Delta is hosting a service project devoted to collecting water bottles that will be donated to Love and Care Ministries, a local organization that serves the homeless population of Abilene and the surrounding area. Additionally, Omicron Delta has invited Bishop Michael Pfeifer, the Catholic Bishop from the San Angelo region, a devoted advocate of World Water Day, to educate the conference on its importance.
