The McMurry University Music Department will be hosting a special chamber music concert this Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 pm in Ryan Recital Hall.

The War Hawk Wood woodwind quintet will be joined by McMurry faculty members Karla Ordonez, Susie Rockett, Staci Spring, Maggie Missal, Mark Wilcox, Elizabeth-Ducey Moss and David Robinson to open the concert with Gordon Jacob’s masterpiece Old Wine in New Bottles.

It will be followed by the Texas premiere of D. J. Sparr’s Compass Chrome by the McMurry Percussion Ensemble and a special performance of Jerome Naulais’ Cocktail by the McMurry Trumpet Choir. The Symphonic Band will then give a centennial birthday tribute to Morton Gould with a performance of his Mini-Suite, featuring student conductor Lance Mosley, before closing the concert with student conductor Joey Gonzales conducting Ed Kiefer’s Mountain Dance.

The concert will last one hour and admission is free.
