Congratulations are in order to McMurry’s volleyball head coach Cammie Petree, who has been awarded the National Christian College Athletic Association’s  (NCCAA) “Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award” for the 2013-14 year!

The purpose of the Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award is to recognize NCCAA athletic mentors who epitomize the Christian character qualities of:

Love- demonstrating a caring and consistent love for others (I Corinthians 13);

Integrity- living out ethical principles in a clear consistent manner (Job 27:5);

Faith- acknowledging a life of faith and sharing that faith with others (Hebrews 11);

Excellence- striving to do all things at the highest standard (Philippians 4:8).

Cammie just completed her 18th season of guiding the McMurry program, is already the school’s all-time leader in victories, with a record of 317-215 (a winning percentage of .596). In 2012, she led McMurry to the NCCAA national championship, earning back-to-back regional titles, as well.

Cammie has twice been voted as the NCCAA’s Central Region “Coach of the Year” (2012 & 2013). She also earned the national “Coach of the Year” award in 2012 from both the NCCAA and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

In addition to the tremendous on-court success enjoyed by Cammie’s teams, she has also built a solid foundation for spiritual growth and community engagement for her players. Under Cammie’s tenure, McMurry volleyball has done fundraisers for cancer research, volunteered at a shelter for abused women, and worked at the annual “Pumpkin Patch” fundraiser for Abilene’s Disability Resources Incorporated, to name a few.
