ABILENE, Texas – Attached are news items of interest from McMurry University faculty, staff and students.

McMurry University Professor Dr. Philip LeMasters was at the Volos Academy for Theological Studies in Volos, Greece, in June to present a paper entitled, “Orthodox Approaches to Nonviolent Resistance.” The conference theme was “Christian Presence and Witness in the Middle East Today: Theological and Political Challenges.” Find out more about the conference at:

McMurry University alumna Allison Redfearn graduated in May 2011 from Harvard Divinity School with a Masters of Theological Studies with a concentration in Religion, Ethics, and Politics. Last summer she traveled to Jordan to study Arabic with a joint program between the University of Virginia and Yarmouk University in Jordan. While a student at HDS she worked as an Intern at Harvard-Epworth United Methodist Church in Cambridge, MA in young-adult programing and adult Christian education. Currently she is in Lafayette, LA to spend time with family as apply for jobs and volunteer opportunities. .
McMurry University Dean of Education Dr. Perry Kay Haley-Brown will serve as state president for Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities (EDICUT) for the 2011-2012 school year. She also held this position in 2007.
