ABILENE, Texas – Attached are news items of interest from McMurry University faculty, staff and students.

McMurry University Professor Dr. Philip LeMasters recently published an essay in a Romanian theological journal: “A Dynamic Praxis of Peace: Orthodox Social Ethics and Just Peacemaking”, Revista Teologica, no.4/2010, p.69-82.
Dr. Patricia Lapoint, professor of management at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, in partnership with Dr. Carrol Haggard, associate professor of communication studies at Fort Hays State University, recently published “Diggins/Reinholdt Plastics, Inc.: A Study in Resistance to Change in the Aftermath of a Merger”. It examines the role that communication plays — both supportive and resistive — in blending the organizational culture of two companies as the result of a merger. The case has been included as a chapter in the new book “Cases and Exercises in Organizational Development and Change.” The case, which is one of 30, was competitively selected for inclusion in the book published by Sage Publications. The goal of the book is to provide coverage of all aspects of the organizational development process.
Dr. Perry K. Haley Brown has been elected state president of the Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas (EDICUT) for 2011-2012. EDICUT works to provide leadership for the delivery of teacher education programs in private universities and colleges. Dr. Brown has a B.S. and Master’s Degree from Sul Ross State University in Alpine Texas. She received her doctorate in Early Childhood Education and Multidisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Brown is the Dean of the School of Education at McMurry University.
