ABILENE, Texas – Dr. Alicia Wyatt, Dean of the School of Natural and Computational Sciences and a Professor in the Computer Science Department, is the featured speaker for McMurry University’s 2011 Fall Convocation at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Radford Auditorium.
Dr. Wyatt joined the McMurry faculty as an adjunct in 1997 and as a full-time member of the faculty in 1999. Dr. Wyatt completed her doctorate in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University in August 1988.

Dr. Wyatt is very interested in all sorts of technology applications. The development of a widespread, always-on, participatory web of mobile content and applications has profound implications for learning and social interaction in every aspect of our lives. Dr. Wyatt is currently exploring the realm of social media, the construction of personal learning environments, ways to connect the physical and the virtual, and a wide variety of browser based tools that encourage and augment the learning and creativity. Dr. Wyatt teaches classes in instructional technology, social media, website development, and multimedia. You can find her on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Diigo. She authors a blog to keep friends of SNCS abreast of the latest student and faculty activity.

The McMurry community has honored Dr. Wyatt with three of its highest awards: The Exemplary Service Award in 2009; The Gordon R. and Lola J. Bennett Award for outstanding teaching, service, and leadership in 2005; and the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2003.

Dr. Wyatt and her husband Terry have two sons.
