ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University is proud to be recognized as a top-ranked institution for the 17th consecutive year by U.S. News and World Report Best College Guide. McMurry also was again recognized as one of the most racially-diverse universities in its region. McMurry competed with other institutions in the Western Region of the Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor’s category for these rankings

“We are very pleased that U.S. News & World Report has recognized McMurry University as one of the top regional universities in the nation,” said Dr. Paul Fabrizio, Vice President for Academic Affairs at McMurry. “This recognition is a reflection of the University’s continued commitment to providing a rigorous learning experience that provides students with the intellectual, social and career skills needed to excel upon graduation.”

Fabrizio said McMurry University is proud of its faculty, who are committed to excellence in teaching and to the pursuit of scholarship. “They take seriously the responsibilities of teaching and learning, but place equal importance on modeling what they teach as mentors. They help create an environment that is truly both supportive and challenging, and they are committed to helping students succeed and grow in every way possible.”

McMurry moved up one place to twelfth in the top ranked institution in the Western Region. McMurry was ranked 5th in the Most Diverse category, with a Hispanic population of 20 percent.

In all categories, the top 20 schools are numerically ranked, while tier 3 and 4 schools are listed alphabetically. According to U.S. News and World Report, rankings are based on seven categories: assessment by administrators at peer institutions, retention of students, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.
