Abilene’s four-year universities received recognition from the latest series of U.S. News & World Report ratings, scoring high in the yearly “America’s Best Colleges” publication.

McMurry University

McMurry University was recognized as a top-ranked institution for the 16th consecutive year in the U.S. News guide, and also tagged as one of the most racially diverse universities in its region.

McMurry competed with other institutions in the Western Region of the “Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor’s” category.

“McMurry is very pleased that U.S. News has again recognized the quality of our academic experience against many fine institutions,” said Paul Fabrizio, McMurry’s vice president for academic affairs. “We are pleased to be able to offer a rich educational experience for all our students.”

McMurry moved up one place to 13th among top-ranked institutions in the report’s Western Region.

The university was ranked fifth in the “Most Diverse” category, with a Hispanic population of 19 percent.
