On Tuesday, October 8, the McMurry Secondary Education majors volunteered at DRI Inc. While there, they read to school students, took them on hay rides, assisted people who were buying pumpkins, and participated in activities in the gym with DRI residents.

“The Pumpkin Patch is such a worthwhile project at DRI, because all proceeds are funneled back into the programs offered to their residents. The McMurry students thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet and work with the folks at DRI and look forward to going again!” said Dr. Melody Roper, a professor in the McMurry education department.

DRI provides exceptional care and contented lives to intellectually challenged adults in a Christian environment. The organization has grown to a 170 acre main campus, including seven group homes and a thriving vocational center. In addition, it recently completed a 17,000 square foot multipurpose activity center that will further expand the ability to provide vocational as well as recreational programs for its residents.
