ABILENE, Texas – Join the McMurry University Art Department as we embark on a mystical journey in Peru May 20-30, 2013. Courses available are Non-European Art History (3323) and Photography in Peru (3395). We created the itinerary along with Peruvian based Yampu Tours, combining traditional flavors, colors and experiences far beyond the normal travel experience in South America. Come with us to encounter the Southern Cross, drains that flow “backwards” and an ancient culture still very much alive. Locations include: Lima, the newly discovered Huaca Pucllana Ruines, Cuzco, the Sacred Valley and the Inca Fountain. The Misminay Village experience will include an Incan agricultural seminar, traditional Andean cuisine prepared by women of the community and a weaving seminar. Travelling on to Pisac and Kancha we will peruse local handicrafts and the ruins of an Incan fortress. Next, we will hike or ride the train to Machu Picchu where we will enjoy a day and a half exploring and perhaps even a blessing from a local Shaman. Tours also include art museums, Colombian History Museums, cathedrals and a chocolate museum.

Pricing is based on double or triple room occupancy. Double – $2,436 per person. Triple-$2137.00 per person. Prices include: domestic airfare, Lima-Cuzco round trip, hotel accommodations, all airport transfers, land transportation, tours with English speaking guides, and all entry fees during tours and all taxes. International airfare is not included. A deposit of $600.00 is required by January 14, 2013. There are spots open for participants who do not wish to receive course credit as well.
