McMurry University Women's Interclub Council to Host Documentary Miss Representation

Abilene, TX - The McMurry University Women’s Interclub will be hosting a showing of the documentary Miss Representation at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in the Old Main auditorium. The public is invited to attend the free event.

Miss Representation is a 2011 American documentary film written, directed, and produced by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. It explores how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in influential positions by circulating limited and often disparaging portrayals of women. The film premiered in the documentary competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

A panel discussion will follow the screening. Participating will be McMurry faculty, staff Vanessa Roberts Bryan, Ronda Hoelscher, Jackie Jackson, Pug Parris, Ann Spence, Sara Richards Oliver, and Robert Wallace, and KTXS News reporter Dora Miller.
