Students in Dr. Stephanie Scott’s Special Learners class at McMurry University got some real world experience working with autistic children when they assisted at a meeting of Reach for a Difference, a support group for parents of kids with autism spectrum disorder.

Parents were able to attend the meeting worry free because the McMurry students entertained their children with games and snacks.   The twelve students learned first-hand the challenges of working with autism.  The class will continue attending these meetings once each month.

The class also got to interact with parents.  One mother of two autistic boys related the challenges she faces each day raising her sons.
