McMurry University invites military and dependents to Military Appreciation Day Saturday, October 25, for free food and football

ABILENE, Texas – Active duty and retired military and their dependents are invited to enjoy a free tailgate party and McMurry University’s game against Tarleton State on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Wilford Moore Stadium. All military members, veterans and their families will be admitted free with military ID as part of McMurry’s Military Appreciation Day.

Kick-off is at 2 p.m. at Wilford Moore Stadium on the McMurry University campus. The main gate entry is located on Ross Street. There will be a tailgate lunch furnished by St. Paul United Methodist Church prior to the game from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all active duty military and veterans and their families at the Bobby Carter Throws Complex located across Ross Street west of the stadium.  There is no cost for the tailgate for military families with DOD identification cards.

All active duty military, veterans and their families will be recognized at halftime.  Also at halftime, about 50 future soldiers; marines; navy and airmen will participate in a swearing in ceremony to begin their military careers.

Parking is available along the west and southern perimeters of campus.  Home side seating is available on the west side of Wilford Moore Stadium.

Our Military Appreciation Day event is just another way for us to say “Thanks” to all the military and their families.”
