McMurry University to host Storytelling Competition

ABILENE, Texas – The Mesquite Storytellers of Abilene will hold the preliminary round of the fine art of yarn spinning for students at McMurry University, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 30, at the Jay-Rollins Library. Contestants will prepare and tell a family-friendly story, not more than eight to 10 minutes long.
The preliminary round, sponsored by the McMurry English Club and the Jay-Rollins Library, is open to the public free of charge.
The winners will advance to the finals against students from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene Christian University and Cisco College on Friday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. at the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, 102 Cedar St. Cost to attend the final event is $5 per person.
